St John the Divine in Iowa

There is a new film in the pre-production phase that I commend to you. You can see a clip at by clicking here;

A Rogationtide Litany

We are in the season of Rogation in the next few days before Ascension Day. It is time for us to remember that not only did God give humanity "dominion" over the created order, God also gave us the "responsibility" for caring for it. Global warming, the increasing size of the human carbon footprint is growing daily, the seas, the land, the air are all now in peril. The church therefore calls on all to work, and pray and give to make it uppermost in our minds that we care for the earth we have been given so that those who come after us may also enjoy its abundance, its beauty, and its joy.

Happy Rogationtide

The following is the result of compiling several resources including the link above.

O Son of God hear us

Lord have mercy

Christ have mercy

Lord have mercy

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ in his earthly life shared our toil and hallowed our labor: Be present with your people where they work; make those who carry on the industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and give to us all a pride in what we do, and a just return for our labor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
